Beginning in 2005 the school began a partnership with Sage Food Services of Lutherville, MD, a leader countrywide in the sourcing and preparation of healthy food for school children. A glance at the Sage website speaks volumes.
This strategic partnership has enabled St. Francis to connect with local suppliers of largely organic produce, as well as hormone and antibiotic-free milk and red meat. Chef Matt Thomas delivers the goods on a daily basis: multiple vegetable choices, a vegetarian option, salad bar and sandwich bar, all prepared with an expert's touch.
