If you’ve been inside the Main Amp anytime recently, you’ve surely seen the “Great Wall” that separates everyone from the theater. Well, construction has really ramped up this week, and I had to watch in horror as workers started attacking the venerable stage and tearing up the floorboards. Deep breaths … it will all be worth it in the long run! (And how great is it that our students can watch the progress through the peepholes installed at various heights by Buffalo Construction?)

On that note, we’re obviously not performing any shows this year in a construction zone. So our fall play, The Odd Couple by Neil Simon, opens next Friday, November 9th in the Performing Arts Space on the Downtown Campus!

We began busing our kids down there last week and have been adjusting to the new locale quite nicely. It will be a bit cozy, but it really brings you into Oscar (and Felix’s) apartment and all the hilarity that ensues when a died-in-the-wool slob links up with a finicky neatnik and gourmet! Toss in some poker-playing cronies and some “mod” ’60s sisters from England looking for a date, and you have the makings for a seriously riotous comedy! Click here for tickets to the show, and keep in mind we will only be selling 100 tickets instead of the usual 175. So get your seats early to see a staple of American comedy. Showtimes are as follows:

  • Friday, November 9th at 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November, 11th at 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November, 14th at 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 15th at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. The Odd Couple is recommended for Middle School audiences and older. And I will add that this year’s show is especially poignant given the passing of Neil Simon the day after our first rehearsal and read-through of the show. So brush up on your poker hands, light a cigar, and we’ll see you in New York!
