The children are settling into their classroom routines and are enjoying all the amenities our campus has to offer. A few classes have already visited the chicken coop, gone on nature walks, played in the gym, read books with Lindsy Serrano in the library, and enjoyed Faith Murphy’s music classes. Each day presents a new field trip opportunity on this beautiful campus, as there is always something to see, explore, and wonder about. On Wednesday, Paul Harshaw’s class found a tree frog in the mud kitchen. “We tried to find it a home. We left him in a big tree with a lot of leaves, so he could find his mom and dad there. I think it was a pine tree,” said Adrian, 4. This class was very excited to share their discovery with everyone, and the conversation and questions led to a lively discussion about frogs.

Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on building community in our classrooms. The preschoolers will be helping at snack, hanging up their backpacks, and serving as classroom helpers in a variety of ways. Our teachers are supporting each child’s developing independence and building confidence along the way. As the year progresses, the community will expand to include projects that can be explored together as a group, like family and transportation, for example.

Speaking of transportation, on Friday, September 14th we will host our annual Transportation Day for Preschool through 1st grade classes. Each year we also invite our friends from Keystone Learning Academy to join us. Renee Reithel and Jacquelyn Stack, our Preschool PA Co-Chairs, need a few more volunteers to assist with the event. Please email Renee and Jacquelyn for more information.

Sunny days are here …
We recommend applying sunscreen to your child before arriving to Preschool in the morning. A good covering of bug spray (daily) is also advised. We spend quite a bit of time exploring and playing outdoors.
